Whys and Hows of Dog Beds

Dogs sleep for about 14-16 hours a day. So it is quite important that they have a fixed place to sleep. This way a lot of accidents and mishaps can be avoided. A dog bed is especially important for dogs aged 7 years and above.

Us versus them

Imagine that you like to sleep for 14-16 hours a day. Wouldn't you want your bed to be comfortable? Would you really like to search for a new place to sleep every day? You would not, right? Dogs don't like to do that either. Even homeless dogs have fixed spots for sleeping in. So, pet dogs should also have fixed sleeping spots. Buying dog beds just makes the whole process easier.

Where to put your dog's bed

The bed should be placed anywhere near you! Your dog wants to be with you, especially while sleeping! The bed should be ideally placed in the bedroom at night and in the living room during the day. If you put the bed in a different room, chances are that your dog will spend a sleepless night. He or she might even chew up the bed because of boredom and frustration! On the other hand, if the bed is placed near where you sleep, your dog will fall asleep in no time. Besides, going to bed with your pet besides you is a wonderful feeling.

Buying a bed for a chewer

Is your dog a chewer? Is he or she never satisfied with any toy you buy for them? Is he or she left alone for long hours? Then you need to steer clear of dog beds which are made of soft fabrics! If your dog is a chewer, then you need to buy beds made up of PVC and aluminum. These beds are also much more durable than those made up of fabrics like vinyl.

How to buy

Whichever bed you buy, always remember that it will stay with your dog for as long as he or she lives and therefore needs to be of impeccable quality. A new bed will obviously look great but do not buy dog beds on the basis of looks alone. A bed which looks great and is yet made up of fabric which can be easily destroyed is obviously a bad choice. Always remember that you are buying a bed for a dog and not for a human. They don't sleep the way we do. They don't care about the bed's looks either! Buying a bed which will last for a long time is the key here. The best thing to do is to follow your dog's sleeping patterns for a while and then buy a bed. Buying dog beds from online websites is another great idea because you get good deals at much less prices. Find out more details about Dog Sleeping by clicking on Best Dog Beds for Mastiffs.
